The visit to Pakistan by Canada’s Foreign Minister, Anita Anand, is significant because it is the first time in almost two decades that a Canadian foreign minister has come to Pakistan. The visit saw an announcement of over $47 million worth of assistance for security and development purposes. This assistance amounts to $2.2 million in counterterrorism, border management, and financial crime prevention, along with $45 million for climate adaptation, flood recovery in the education sector, and reproductive health. At these meetings, the issues of growing trade, clean energy, and a bilateral investment agreement were also addressed, in addition to regional security concerns involving Kashmir.
